Power Ranking - Top 5 stay, Panthers out of Top 10

A power ranking has each team ranked according to their current strength. After Week 9, the European League of Football is getting closer and closer to the playoffs. Who slides down and who moves up?

Let’s see where I rank each team going into Week 10 of the 2024 season and why!

Previous Ranking: 1

The Surge did what everyone thought they would do. In just three quarters, the German franchise put 40 points on the scoreboard against the Panthers and did not let anything offensively develop on the Polish side of the ball. Another strong outing by my number one team in this league at the moment.

Previous Ranking: 2

Rhein Fire are getting back their offensive rhythm. I know the Glen Toonga train is rolling, but their passing game had some hiccups over the past few weeks. But against the Frankfurt Galaxy at home last weekend, the Rhein Fire are looking as good as ever. I am very much looking forward to them hosting my number three team, the Paris Musketeers at home in Week 10!

Previous Ranking: 3

The Musketeers are rolling. Another Top 5 team, another win. The French franchise won against the Madrid Bravos at home in a rather dominating fashion. But can they bet the Rhein Fire on the road this week? I will be live at the stadium to see what two of the top teams in Europe have to offer!

Previous Ranking: 4

The Vienna Vikings flew all the way out to Berlin this Sunday to play the Berlin Thunder. In the first half, the game was nothing but easy for the Austrian team. But the second half was dominated by quarterback Ben Holmes and wide receiver Reece Horn. I know that a lot of Austrian fans are mad that I moved their Vikings from two all the way to four over the past weeks. But it is not that the Vikings are a bad team, they are still my number four team. But the Surge, Rhein Fire, and the Muskteers are on such a dominating winning streak, I have a hard time ranking a team that allowed 40 points against the Mercenaries above them. And yes, I know that the Vikings played a lot of backups. But 40 points?!

Previous Ranking: 5

The Madrid Bravos stay where they are after their loss against the Musketeers. They are still a great team, but the Paris Musketeers were just too much to handle for the Spaniards. I would love to see Dwayne Obi return to his dominant fashion. But teams seem to have focused on him and Willie Patterson offensively. So, the Bravos need another playmaker to step and take advantage of the opportunity.

Previous Rank: 6

The Raiders Tirol come out of a bye week and stay where they are. They have a loaded roster. I just hope for N’Kosi Perry and the Austrian franchise that they can eliminate their turnovers. If it weren’t for the interceptions, the Raiders could have beaten the Surge and the Vikings in Week 7 and 8. Don’t sleep on my second Austrian team in the Top 6.

Previous Rank: 7

The Munich Ravens did what they had to do against the Mercenaries. They came out with a win and now face the Milano Seamen in a doable matchup.

Previous Rank: 8

Where do I begin? I would like to drop the Thunder a few spots, but there is now way the Centurions or the Panthers would have played a better game against the Vienna Vikings last Sunday. However, the Thunder are not the same team that they were in Week 4. I am missing the fight and the belief to win big games. But after losing nail-biters against the Vikings and Rhein Fire before, the Thunder somehow seem drained.

Previous Rank: 9

The Centurions are on a winning-streak over the past couple of weeks. First the Galaxy, now the Sea Devils. Imagine reading this back in 2021. I know the Galaxy and the Sea Devils are not what they used to be, but the Centurions belong in the Top 10 right now.

Previous Rank: 11

The Frankfurt Galaxy did a great job in the first half against the Rhein Fire. There are not many teams in this league that can pull off a 14-12 score at halftime, only trailing Rhein Fire by two points. Plus, the Panthers have to be ranked outside the Top 10 after their disastrous performance against the Surge.

Previous Rank: 10

The Panthers did not score a single point in three quarters of football against the Surge. They have to fall out of my Top 10 for now. Did the quarterback changes affect the team? There are even voices getting loud on social media that the Panthers should have never released quarterback Steve Duncan after the loss to the Vikings. He is now balling out and helping the Madrid Bravos maybe reach the playoffs in their first season.

Previous Rank: 13

Another loss by the Hamburg Sea Devils. But the Sea Devils managed to make it close against the Cologne Centurions. They were able to control the running backs but could not stop quarterback Isaiah Weed on the ground and through the air. Will the Sea Devils bounce back in Week 10?

Previous Rank: 12

The Helvetic Mercenaries move down one spot. The injury to quarterback Carlton Aiken Jr. should be closely monitored. If he is out for the rest of the season, this spot for the Mercenaries should be reconsidered. But for now, the Swiss franchise moves down one spot while the Sea Devils move up.

Previous Rank: 14

The Enthroners are on a little winning-streak after beating the Prague Lions and now the Milano Seamen. They will most probably still miss the playoffs. But it is great to see a team come together despite a 0-6 record and play hard every game!

Previous Rank: 15

The Milano Seamen lost against the Enthroners in Week 9. For now, they stay at the bottom of my ranking with under 100 passing yards and a number of turnovers.

Previous Rank: 16

The Prague Loins are coming off a bye week and stay at this rank for now.

Previous Rank: 17

The Barcelona Dragons are coming off a bye week and stay at this rank for now.
