Playoff picture after Week 8: Who’s in and who’s not?

© Hannes JirgalThe 2025 European League of Football regular season is eight weeks in, and the playoff race is on fire. While some teams are battling to stay in contention, the league’s top contenders are starting to pull away.
Here’s how the current playoff picture stands:
Semi-Finalists
#1 Vienna Vikings (6-1)
The Vienna Vikings proved once again why they are one of the hottest teams in the league. Against the Prague Lions, who had been playing strongly recently, the Austrians achieved a clear 34-0 victory. Apart from a narrow defeat against Rhein Fire, the Vikings are still undefeated. Currently, this would earn them a home game in the playoffs and a week off.
#2 Munich Ravens (6-1)
The same currently applies to the Munich Ravens, who have also only suffered one defeat so far. In a close game, the team from Bavaria beat the Madrid Bravos 43-40. If the Ravens can maintain this form, a place in the playoffs should be secure.

Wildcard Round
#6 Raiders Tirol at #3 Nordic Storm
The Raiders Tirol have proven their playoff ambitions with an impressive victory against the current champions Rhein Fire. The Austrian team is in second place in the South Division with a 5-3 record, behind the Munich Ravens. Nordic Storm is the last undefeated team with a 6-0 record. However, due to a lower Strength of Victory, they are only seeded #3.
#5 Stuttgart Surge at #4 Paris Musketeers
Stuttgart Surge is still fighting for their place in the 2025 Championship Game in their own city. To do so, they beat the Fehervar Enthroners 55-12 with a homegrown quarterback. Meanwhile, the Paris Musketeers crushed the Helvetic Mercenaries and remain on course for the playoffs.

In the Hunt
There is still a great opportunity for a number of teams that are just outside the playoff picture to make it in:
- Rhein Fire (4-3)
- Prague Lions (4-3)
- Madrid Bravos (4-3)
- Wroclaw Panthers (4-3)
These teams are just one or two wins away from securing a playoff spot. With several weeks remaining, the battle for a place in the top six is set to become even more intense.
