Panthers Wrocław quarterback change turns the tide

Necessity is the mother of invention! After quarterback Matthew Vitale had to travel back to the USA for family reasons and parted ways with the Panthers Wrocław, the team desperately needed a new passer. When they hosted the Fehérvár Enthroners this past weekend, the coaching staff had a new plan for the offense up their sleeve.

Josiah Norwood stepped up and delivered in a big way during the 62-12 win over the Enthroners, giving the Panthers hope at the quarterback position, while also ending a couple of rough weeks with two losses out of three games.

The wide receiver turned signal caller completed ten out of his 13 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Despite being on the smaller side, Norwood played quarterback back in high school, before converting to receiver in college for the UCLA Bruins.

Panthers: Eyes on the postseason?

Norwood could give the Polish franchise some reason for optimism, as they prepare to make a late push for the playofffs. They are currently two games out and would need a miracle to still play football in the postseason.

Still, the Panthers looked way better this past weekend than they have for a couple of weeks. A functional passing game would do wonders for an offense, that already has a good rushing attack centered around Dawid Brzozowski. Norwood is also able to carry the rock from time to time.

This upcoming game day, the Panthers will be on a bye week, giving Norwood some more time and reps for his potential new position. After that, they will face Berlin Thunder on a direct duel to stay in the playoff race. They will finish the season against Frankfurt Galaxy and Prague Lions ... and maybe play a game or two more.
