Panthers secure crucial last-minute victory against Lions
Florian Puth

You could not ask for a better start to a football game. The Wroclaw Panthers scored after just 1.5 minutes following a long run by quarterback DJ Irons. At the other end of the field, the Polish defense forced a fumble deep in the opponent's half. After just three minutes, the Panthers were leading 14-0.
But the Prague Lions come back strong and force the Panthers into a shootout. Especially thanks to the connection between quarterback Javarian Smith and star receiver William Petterson. Smith finishes the game with 327 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, with one interception. He also adds 59 rushing yards and another two touchdowns. Patterson collected 196 receiving yards and a passing touchdown.

It is Patterson's 40-yard reception that almost seals the deal for the Lions. But the Panthers defense holds on just before the end and keeps their chances of victory alive with less than two minutes left on the clock. Also because the Lions' field goal fails to find its way between the posts.
D.J. Irons, who is playing a strong game with four total touchdowns, leads his team to a final touchdown drive. With only 16 seconds left on the clock, Irons scores with a rush and claims the lead. The American secures his team a crucial victory on the road to the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Lions suffered a crushing defeat. A victory would have been an important step toward the franchise's first playoffs in history. With a 4-4 record, they are once again in the hunt.
