Panthers hunt for upset vs Vienna Vikings

The Wroclaw Panthers are one of a group of teams still desperately fighting for a spot in the post season. Sitting at 5-3  the Panthers helped themselves greatly last week defeating the Prague Lions 41-37. This week they face perhaps the league’s best team and the number one overall seed the Vienna Vikings.

Panthers have momentum

Quarterback DJ Irons and running back Dawid Brzozowski lead a dynamic rushing attack on offense, while veteran linebacker AJ Wentland and a core of homegrowns hope to have success against Vienna. Irons leads the league in rushing with 730 yards while also passing for 1,360 yards making him one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league. Homegrown star Dawid Brzozowski is not far behind with 609 yards of his own on the season.

A star studded opponent

The Vikings feature several stars of the league such as quarterback Ben Holmes, tight end Florian Bierbaumber, and defenders Aaron Donkor and Elmeri Laalo. It would be perhaps the biggest upset of the season so far if the Panthers were to best the Vikings on in front of thier home fans. The Vikings already control the East divison but this win gets them one step closer to securing the top seed overall. 

These two teams have yet to play this season but will face off now in two of the next three weeks of play. The Vienna Vikings will play the Wroclaw Panthers on Saturdaythe 19th at 14:00 in Stadion Olimpijski in Wroclaw Poland.
