Wroclaw Panthers @ Cologne Centurions - 57:3

The Wroclaw Panthers made a strong statement in Week 5, dominating the Cologne Centurions on the road and snapping their two-game losing streak. Despite heavy rain early in the game, Wroclaw found their rhythm quickly and ran away with the contest — both literally and figuratively.

Ground game leads the way

While both teams initially struggled with snaps in wet conditions, the Panthers adjusted quickly. Running backs Dawid Brzozowski and quarterback DJ Irons Jr. took over on the ground. Brzozowski impressed with a 36-yard rushing touchdown and later exploded for a 70-yard score. As the weather improved, Irons Jr. also found success through the air, connecting with standout receiver Darnell Stewart Jr. and local talent Kacper Jaszewski for big gains.

Cologne, on the other hand, failed to establish their running game and finished with just 138 total yards. They converted only 3 of 13 third downs and threw two interceptions, which gave the Panthers favorable field position and added to Cologne’s struggles.

Injury concern for Cologne

The day went from bad to worse for the Centurions when linebacker Moritz Häfele had to be carted off with a serious injury. His status moving forward remains uncertain.

Looking ahead

The Panthers will carry momentum into Week 6 as they prepare for a revenge game against the Nordic Storm — the team that handed them a loss earlier this season.

Cologne faces a tough challenge next week as they host the Stuttgart Surge, a championship contender coming off a bye week with plenty of time to prepare.
