The Nordic Storm had been cruising through the European League of Football season, unbeaten until Week 11. That’s when the Frankfurt Galaxy handed them their first loss, a result that came as a shock to many fans and perhaps even the team itself. But the Storm aren’t dwelling on it - instead, they’re determined to use it as fuel for the crucial final stretch of the regular season.

A lesson in Frankfurt

The defeat showed that even the strongest teams can be vulnerable if they don’t perform at their best. For the Storm, it was a reminder of the high level of competition in the ELF. Cornerback Clifton Duck, who has quickly established himself as a leader in the secondary despite joining mid-season, put it bluntly: “That loss is a reflection of us on that day. Nothing more and nothing less.”

Duck emphasized that bouncing back means tightening up on every level: “Just minimizing mistakes and capitalizing off the other team’s mistakes. They did better than us in that aspect,” he said, highlighting how small details can make all the difference.

Beaulieu shines despite the setback

One of the bright spots in the Storm’s season has been wide receiver Brendan Beaulieu. In his first ELF campaign, he has become one of the league’s top offensive threats, currently sitting at 1,219 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns - good enough for second place in the league.

Beaulieu remains focused despite his personal success: “I just want to keep improving every week and help the team be at its best when it matters most,” he said. For him, the personal records are secondary to the Storm’s bigger mission - going deep in the playoffs.

Refocused after the bye

The general bye week gave the team a chance to rest, recover, and reset after the tough loss. Duck explained how valuable this break was: “I take the bye week to rest and heal up. It’s a big week when you are preparing for the end of a long season.”

With renewed energy, the Storm now return to action in Week 13 for their final home game of the regular season against the Hamburg Sea Devils. It’s a crucial opportunity to get back on track and build momentum heading into the playoffs.

Eyes on the playoffs

With a playoff spot already secured, the Storm are focused on locking up one of the top two seeds, which would give them a direct path to the semifinals and home-field advantage. But they know they can’t let up: every mistake counts, and every opponent will bring their best against one of the league’s top teams.

For Beaulieu, it’s about keeping the momentum alive: “I just want to keep playing my best football and help this team finish strong,” he said. Duck added that the mindset is simple: “We are focused on winning week in and week out.”

The Storm’s first loss may have been a wake-up call, but with their talent, depth, and determination, they remain one of the biggest threats in the ELF heading into the postseason.
