NFL star Froholdt joins Nordic Storm as co-owner

NFL star Hjalte Froholdt joins Nordic Storm as co-owner and ambassador of the new ELF franchise - Commissioner Esume: "Great news for the league"

Prominent addition to the ELF: current NFL star Hjalte Froholdt, starting centre of the Arizona Cardinals, is enthusiastic about the development of the ‘Champions League’ of European football and is joining Nordic Storm as co-owner and ambassador. The Scandinavian franchise based in Copenhagen will join the European League of Football at the start of the 2025 season.

"American football has been my passion since I started playing in my home country of Denmark. It has led me on this incredible journey to the NFL and I am very excited to promote the game in my home country in the role of co-owner and ambassador at Nordic Storm. This project is not just about creating a professional franchise. It's about creating a movement in Denmark, in Sweden and the entire region. Nordic Storm helps to publicise our passion and love for American football and show the whole world what we can do", said Hjalte Froholdt.

Picked by New England in NFL Draft

The 28-year-old was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots and has been playing consistently ever since. After a series in Foxborough and two seasons for the Cleveland Browns, Froholdt moved to the Arizona Cardinals for the 2023 season. His statistics include 57 appearances in the NFL.

"We are very happy to have Hjalte Froholdt, a superstar of our sport, as co-owner and ambassador for our franchise. He believes in our mission and will help us achieve our big goals in the European League of Football. Hjalte Froholdt is an idol for the players and fans in Scandinavia and we are convinced that he will make a big impact", says Palle Navntoft Christensen, General Manager of Nordic Storm.

"This is a big step"

The composition of the roster shows that the new franchise wants to shake up the ELF in its inaugural season. With quarterback Jadrian Clark, the 2023 MVP, and running back Glen Toonga, the 2024 MVP, two key players from back-to-back champions Rhein Fire have been signed. Head coach John Shoop also secured the services of safety Chad Walrond, who most recently played for Stuttgart Surge.

"Hjalte Froholdt joining Nordic Storm as co-owner and ambassador is great news. Not just for the franchise, but for the whole league. It shows how much the ELF gains in appeal and recognition when an active NFL player is involved with his experience and passion. This is a big step towards further establishing the ELF as a first-class platform for our sport", says ELF Commissioner Patrick Esume.
