New era: Rhein Fire sign All-Star QB Chad Jeffries

The Rhein Fire have their new quarterback, signing veteran passer Chad Jeffries. In the first major offseason move for the back-to-back defending champions, the Rhein Fire gets their QB1 for the 2025 season.

A franchise dual-threat QB

Jeffries, simply put, has been one of the ELF's best quarterbacks since entering the league in 2023. Jeffries spent the last two seasons leading the Munich Ravens to a 16-8 record and helping the second year franchise make the playoffs last season. The Californian native is an excellent dual threat quarterback, putting up 6,423 yards passing and 700 yards running in the past two seasons.

In 2024 Jeffries threw for 2,888 yards and 35 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. He also added 337 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, leading the Ravens to their first ever playoff appearance.

The year prior, Jeffries stormed on to the scene, introducing himself to the ELF in spectacular fashion. Jeffries was named a 2023 All-Star, throwing for 3,535 and 30 touchdowns with adding 363 and two scores on the ground. Jeffries' phenomenal play helped guide the Ravens to a winning record in their first ever season.

A veteran presence

Jeffries has been playing in Europe since 2016, suiting up several seasons in the Austrian Football League for the Danube Dragons before joining the Munich Ravens in 2023. While playing for the Dragons, Jeffries was one of the league’s most successful quarterbacks with a record of 27-11 and an appearance in the semifinals every season, finally the Championship in 2022. Prior to coming to Europe, Jeffries played in College Football at Azusa Pacific in California (NAIA). At Azusa, Jeffries threw for 3,714 yards and 25 touchdowns in his three seasons there, while rushing for 352 yards.

A new era in Düsseldorf

The 31-year-old veteran certainly has big shoes to fill in Düsseldorf as he takes over for 2023 MVP quarterback Jadrian Clark, who recently signed with the Nordic Storm. Head coach Jim Tomsula and quarterback Chad Jeffries will look to begin a new era with the Rhein Fire as former quarterback Jadrian Clark and 2024 MVP Glen Toonga headed towards Nordic Storm. Jeffries now hopes to take charge and make history, as the Rhein Fire have an opportunity in 2025 to earn an unprecedented third straight ELF Championship.
