My Moment of the Season - Carlos Carrasco Sanz

The Madrid Bravos were one of the most fascinating teams of the 2024 ELF season. The league’s only expansion team last season made waves through the american football landscape by making the postseason in the first ever campaign,

One of the captains of the Bravos team is Madrid native Carlos Carrasco Sanz, a veteran offensive lineman who returned to Madrid to suit up for the Bravos after many seasons playing across Europe.

A impressive debut season for Madrid

The Bravos leader on the offensive line looked back at some of his favorite moments from the 2024 season.

“As a football team, the win against the Rhein Fire early in the season was proof that we could be competitive and fight to win. On a personal level, entering the Bravos home field with my brother in our city, with our family in the stands was an amazing feeling.”

While the Bravos finished the season with a 8-4 record they are still hungry for more. Carrasco believes many factors held back Madrid last season and sees big potential in the team for next year.

“If there is something that has really hindered our ability to compete towards the last games of the season, that is injuries. Perhaps the main lesson that I believe all of us are aware of is that we need to really get into it in the off season to prepare physically to not only be strong, but also healthy throughout the season”

Bravos charge into 2025

One huge change this off-season for the Bravos is their new head coach Andrew Weidinger. Weidinger brings a decade of NFL experience and has been the Rhein Fire’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, winning back-to-back championships. The veteran coach also was the Barcelona Dragons head coach in 2022, having coached many of the players now on the Bravos squad.

“The mindset is that which you would expect from a team that was in the playoffs last year and fell short. We are all already working out and getting ready to finish the job next year. Very excited with the arrival of coach Tio! (Coach Weidinger) and looking forward to building from the 1-0 mindset that Coach Rip implemented last year. Can’t wait to jump on the field again!”
