Musketeers Head Coach Marc Mattioli: "We will be back"
It was a great season for the Paris Musketeers. For the Musketeers, who are only in their second year as a franchise, the season has come to an end after their semifinal loss to the Vienna Vikings. However, the players and staff can be proud of their achievements, as Head Coach Marc Mattioli said, “We did a lot of good things this season, but obviously we are disappointed that we lost. It’s tough, it’s hard, but I’m proud of my team, proud of the guys.”
The Paris Musketeers never had it easy in the game, as they were always trailing. Through an outstanding team effort, the Vikings built a lead of 22 points, which finally woke the Musketeers up. They fought back to close the gap to just 3 points, but eventually lost control again, allowing the Vikings to pull away for good. “They came out, they played well, they got out to a lead, we battled back and made it a three-point game, but in the end, they made a couple of plays down the stretch and that was the difference,” Mattioli said in his summary of the game.
Although the Paris franchise couldn't prevent the loss to the Vikings, it was clear how much talent is in this roster. While they didn’t achieve the ultimate success this year, Head Coach Marc Mattioli remains confident: “The team has a great foundation, that is what it takes to compete at the highest level in this league. We didn’t quite reach our ultimate goal this year, but I know it’s possible. We will be back.”
