Mercenaries appoint Wilson Ferretti as new Sporting Director

The Helvetic Mercenaries continue to reshape their organization ahead of the 2026 season, and now they have filled one of the most important roles: Wilson Ferretti has been introduced as the team’s new Sporting Director.
A familiar name in European football
Ferretti is no stranger to the European football landscape. A trained sports manager, he brings both academic expertise and extensive experience from his playing career. He competed in Italy, Germany, Spain and Switzerland, building strong connections across the European football world.
His résumé includes three Italian Bowl Championships and one Swiss national title, making him well-acquainted with winning environments. Now, he is expected to bring that same mindset to a Mercenaries franchise that is hungry for success after going winless in 2025.

Leadership through teamwork and communication
Ferretti sees his strengths not just in strategy and management, but in people skills as well. "Teamwork and communication are my strengths - managing priorities, finding solutions and creating positive environments are my roots," he said when introduced by the club. He also emphasized the importance of leading with integrity: "Lead by example - that is my motto."
A new direction for the Mercenaries
After a difficult 0-12 season, the Mercenaries are taking steps to rebuild from the ground up. With Ferretti now guiding the sporting side of the organization, the franchise hopes to create a stronger foundation, attract talent, and build a winning culture in Switzerland.
More staff and roster updates are expected in the coming weeks as the Mercenaries push toward a fresh start in 2026.
