Leipzig Kings sign talented running back Maurice Baker of NFL Academy
In Maurice Baker, the Leipzig Kings have signed a talented youngster, giving depth to the offensive backfield.
The Leipzig Kings have signed running back Maurice Baker to their 2023 roster in the European League of Football. According to his former station at the NFL Academy, Baker is capable of running a 4.52 seconds 40-yard-dash and impressed at the highest level of youth football in Europe.
At 1,83 m and 87 kg, just being 20 years old, Baker is expected to rejuvenate the Kings’ backfield, that previously consistet of Oliver Bahr with zero touchdowns and just 368 yards as their best rusher.
"Maurice brings speed and versatility to our backfield. I believe with his mentality and athletic ability, he will have a big impact in his rookie season. He can catch it and run it, so it will be great finding the different ways to use him in our offense,” said head coach John Booker about the young gun.
Baker started playing football in 2015 with the Wiesbaden Phantoms, together with former Frankfurt Galaxy and Hamburg Sea Devils running back, as well as Rookie of the Year 2021, Gerald Ameln. Maybe we will see both battling each other in 2023.
