Key players return for the Bravos

The Madrid Bravos are entering the most crucial phase of the season. After their loss to the Frankfurt Galaxy in Week 12, the playoff race has become even more intense. Alongside the Bravos, both the Munich Ravens and Raiders Tirol also have seven wins, making the competition for a playoff spot tight.

Although the Bravos are losing their import cornerback Marquise Manning, Ja’len Embry is being activated from the injured reserve (IR) list. Despite being placed on IR after Week 9 and playing only seven games, Embry still ranks 4th in interceptions, highlighting his significant impact on the Bravos.

Defensive line strengthened

In addition to Ja’len Embry, Alejandro Fernandez is also returning to the Bravos' roster. The Spanish defensive end might play his first game for the Bravos, after being sidelined by an injury. Fernandez is considered one of the top talents on the European continent, as demonstrated by his last two seasons. In 2022, he was the only defensive lineman who could compete with Defensive Player of the Year Kyle Kitchens, recording 15.5 sacks. Fernandez continued to impress in 2023, helping Rhein Fire to a championship with another strong season.

Hopes for revenge?

In Week 13, the Madrid Bravos face the Paris Musketeers. The Musketeers won their first meeting, but with the return of key players, the Bravos' already strong defense will be even more formidable. The return of Ja’len Embry and Alejandro Fernandez gives the Bravos a significant boost at the right time, increasing their chances of securing a playoff spot with a win.
