It was an impressive sign from the Champions: Rhein Fire won Week 10's top game against the Paris Musketeers 38-6 (14-0, 7-0, 10-0, 7-6). After their ninth win in the tenth game of the season, Rhein Fire are now play-off participants. The Rhinelanders have a weekend off now, before the games against the Hamburg Sea Devils (11th August) and Berlin Thunder (18th August) take place at the Wedau.

Jim Tomsula's squad made sure things were clear right from the start. Although the Musketeers stopped the hosts' running game through Glen Toonga quite good, quarterback Jadrian Clark showed great form and impressed with precise passing. "Our Offense is extremely flexible and able to switch to the pass at any time", explained Offense Coordinator Andrew Weidinger.

"That's Football"

However, Fire's Defense also played a big part in the 21:0 score at the break. Musketeer quarterback Zach Edwards, who has been in great form recently, was unable to put any points on the board with his Offense. "That's Football. Previous performances count for nothing if you allow yourself to make mistakes like that", said a disappointed Edwards.

Paris continued to play dangerously after the break - but the Rhinelanders' Defense was always on hand when it mattered. "We didn't play anything special, we just implemented our concept consistently", explained Defense coordinator Richard Kent. His colleague Weidinger, who is responsible for the Offense, got clearer: "Of course you win or lose together as a team and not as an individual part of the team. But it helps us enormously as an Offense when we get such a push from our Defense."

Toongas 24th season touchdown (!)

Finally, Glen Toonga scored the fifth Fire touchdown of the day and his 24th of the season with a "flying interlude". Musketeer running back Jason Aguemon, in a Fire jersey in 2022, had a conciliatory final word: "Fire is just incredibly strong. But it's still always good to come to Düsseldorf."
