Homegrown Joshua Köhnlein stays a Hamburg Sea Devil

The Hamburg Sea Devils continue to work on the squad for the upcoming season. Now it is clear: Joshua Köhnlein will also remain a Sea Devil. The defensive tackle joins a large number of contract extensions for the team.

"I'm really looking forward to the coming season and can hardly wait to finally get back on the pitch," says the homegrown player. He continues: "Playing for the Hamburg Sea Devils fills me with great pride. It's an honor to wear this jersey and give it my all together with my teammates. We work hard to show Europe that in every game."

The 21-year-old joined the league in 2023. While he was used as a backup in his first year, his breakthrough came last season, where he started eleven of the twelve games. He recorded 32 tackles, including four for loss and one sack.

Numbers he wants to build on next season. “The excitement is huge, and I'm ready to make history this coming season!” Köhnlein says.
