Hamburg Sea Devils to play second home game at Lohmühle Lübeck

The Hamburg Sea Devils have completing their "northern tour" for the 2024 season. In cooperation with the traditional soccer club VfB Lübeck, the stadium at Lohmühle is to become a temple of football, while the stadium of the third-division club offers a great location for the match against the Prague Lions on June 16 at the Baltic Sea.

All venues found for 2024

"The Lohmühle stadium fits perfectly into our northern tour concept and offers the ideal infrastructure for our plan to promote football in northern Germany and take our fans on this journey. We know about the football tradition in the city and are very much looking forward to sharing this passion with the fans and spectators in this traditional stadium," said Mark Weitz, Managing Director of the Sea Devils. "We are delighted to have found a great partner for our mission in VfB Lübeck.

For some players, it is a home coming

Special teams all-rounder and Special Teams Player of the Year (2022) Eric Schlomm is looking forward to returning to his old place of work: "For me, it's especially nice to return to the place where I spent a large part of my youth and where I was able to start my career in the late fall of my sporting career. The Lohmühle in Lübeck has everything you need for a great game day and our fans will feel very comfortable. Let's make this matchday an unforgettable day together."

Support from the soccer club VfB Lübeck

Christian Schlichting, CEO of VfB Lübeck, explains: "We are happy to make our stadium available for such a high-class event during the footballing summer break. We are sure that the sports-loving city of Lübeck and, above all, our traditional Lohmühle will also provide an atmospheric setting for such a match and are looking forward to top-class sport in our stadium."

Difficult stadium situation in Hamburg

Unlike last year, the Sea Devils will be playing in five different home stadiums due to the tense stadium situation in Hamburg, the franchise announced. While the home opener will be a game at SV Werder Bremen's wohninvest Weserstadion, the Heinz von Heiden Arena in Hanover, Hamburg's Volkspark and the Subicevac Stadium in Croatia, as part of the ELF International Games, have also been announced.
