Gerald Ameln to miss the remainder of the season

The Cologne Centurions will be without star running back Gerald Ameln for the final stretch of the season. The 23-year-old suffered a fracture of the acromioclavicular joint in the game against the Hamburg Sea Devils. The shoulder injury will keep him out of football for a couple of months, as Ameln confimred via Social Media.

In seven games, Ameln carried the ball 146 times for 588 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He fumbled twice. He also had ten catches for 90 receiving yards and another touchdown. After winning the Championship Game in 2021 with the Galaxy, Ameln went on to play for the Hamburg Sea Devils, transferring to the Cologne Centurions in 2023.

With him out of the lineup, running back Dean Tanwani could carry the load. In the last game, he had nine carries for 33 yards. The Centurions also signed Paul Steffen and Umari Tairou.
