In a nail-biting finish, Frankfurt Galaxy beat the Prague Lions and remain a strong contender in the playoff race.

Frankfurt Galaxy (6-5) at Prague Lions (6-5): 28-21

Frankfurt came into Game Week 13 confident after a big win over the previously unbeaten Nordic Storm just before the league-wide bye week. Riding a two-game winning streak, they knew they needed another victory to stay in playoff contention.
Their opponents, the Prague Lions, had also won their last two games and were aiming for their first playoff appearance in franchise history.

At halftime, the Lions led 13-7, relying heavily on their ground game. But setbacks came when starting running back Adam Zouzelka was injured just before the break. In the third quarter, backup RB David Machácek also left the game after a tough tackle. Even with these losses, Prague stayed in front until the closing seconds, helped by a strong defensive performance that kept Frankfurt’s offense under pressure.

With eight seconds left, Galaxy quarterback Jameson Wang connected with wide receiver Normen Schumm for a touchdown to cut the lead to 21-19. Frankfurt then successfully converted a two-point attempt to force overtime. In the extra period, Wang found American WR Brevin Easton for the go-ahead touchdown. On the next drive, new defensive back Bijon Harris sealed the win for Frankfurt with an interception.

Many had written Frankfurt out of the playoff race after Game Week 9, but they were not out yet. Their playoff hopes had been slim, but they are now – after another important win – very much alive. The Galaxy will look to keep that momentum going in the regular-season finale next weekend against the Madrid Bravos, who stand at 7-4 and are also fighting for a playoff spot after a loss to the Munich Ravens.

Prague will face the winless Helvetic Mercenaries in their final game. Whether they can overcome the loss of both running backs remains to be seen.

One thing is certain – the battle for the playoffs is far from decided.
