Frankfurt Galaxy @ Madrid Bravos – 47:33

The matchup between the Frankfurt Galaxy and the Madrid Bravos turned into a true thriller, with both teams going back and forth in a high-scoring showdown. A total of 80 points were scored, and most of the action came after a slow first quarter where neither team managed to put points on the board.

Things changed quickly in the second quarter, as both teams combined for 33 points, scoring touchdown after touchdown. The defenses had little control from that point on.

Galaxy’s run game takes over

Frankfurt’s offensive line dominated the trenches and opened big lanes for the run game, leading to over 390 rushing yards. Sandro Platzgummer was the star of the day, rushing for more than 230 yards and proving nearly impossible to stop.

On defense, Channing Stribling and Tom Kleinmann each grabbed an interception off Bravos quarterback Reid Sinnett, helping the Galaxy secure the lead.

Bravos offense shines – But defense struggles

The Bravos also had standout performances, especially from Aron Cruickshank, who totaled over 220 yards, including almost 200 receiving yards. Quarterback Reid Sinnett threw for more than 420 yards and 3 touchdowns, but also had 2 costly interceptions.

The biggest issue for Madrid was on defense. They gave up a massive 612 total yards, with 397 rushing yards allowed — a number that shows just how dominant Frankfurt was on the ground. The Bravos were also hurt by 14 penalties, which often pushed them into poor field position.

What’s next?

With this win, Frankfurt Galaxy makes a strong statement. After losing in Week 1 to the Stuttgart Surge, there were some concerns. But this victory proves that Frankfurt is still a serious playoff contender. In Week 3, they’ll face the Paris Musketeers at home — a key game within the West Division. A win would not only give them a positive 2–1 record, but also an important head-to-head victory in the division.

For the Madrid Bravos, this game should be a wake-up call. After struggling offensively in Week 1, their defensive weaknesses were clearly exposed this time. If they want to repeat their strong 2024 season, improvements are needed — and fast. In Week 3, they’ll face the Helvetic Mercenaries, and it will be time to show what the team is really capable of.
