Future Star in the making? New Galaxy quarterback Jameson Wang impresses in debut
The Frankfurt Galaxy’s season has not gone according to plan. Whether it was the offense, the defense, or the special teams. All three phases struggled at key moments this season leading them to a 3-5 record.
Wang arrives in Frankfurt
After the injury to Matthew McKay, former Cornell quarterback Jameson Wang signed with the Galaxy and arrived in Frankfurt just a few days before their game against the Stuttgart Surge. The Surge boast one of the league’s most intimidating defenses leaving many fans to think veterans like Mitch Fettig, Chris Mulumba and others would dominate a quarterback with little time to prepare on a new team.
Big time performance
However, the former Ivy league star didn’t let the Surge’s intimidate him, despite limited practice time with his teammates, Wang flashed why he was on NFL team’s radar earlier this year.
A true dual threat
As a passer Wang threw 62 passes completing 33 for 350 yards and three touchdowns as the Galaxy were battling from behind most of the game. He wasn’t perfect, as he intercepted and sacked once, but his connection with fellow American Brevin Easton was strong as the two connected ten times for 145 and a score.
One the ground, Wang ran for 87 yards and was able to extend plays throughout the game. While the Galaxy did loose, Wang and the Galaxy competed hard with one of the league's top teams. Expect Frankfurt's new QB to build on this success.
This week the Galaxy play the Cologne Centurions as they look to get back in the win column against a winless team. If Wang can finish the season strong could we see him back in Frankfurt in 2026?
