After adding Sandro Platzgummer and few changes involving the offensive lineup for 2024, the Frankfurt Galaxy have yet again found a premier offensive lineman. On Sunday, the team announced the signing of Dimitrios Gkountoudis. The 24-year-old started playing at 13 years old for the Fursty Razorbacks in Germany, transferring his talent to the Clearwater Academy in Florida at a later stage. Continuing his career for the Rhode Island Rams in 2029, he redshirted in his first college game. In 2021, he transitioned to Western Illinois University, where he was a two-year starter at left guard in the MVFC, one of the hardest D1 FCS conferences. He started in 17 games as Offensive Lineman for the Leathernecks, now making the way back to Germany to join the Galaxy.

Adding piece by piece

"I‘m super hyped to join the Purple Hell and do whatever I can to go 1-0 each week and ultimately bring the Championship to Frankfurt!", Gkountoudis said. Head football coach Thomas Kösling is adding another piece to his and Frank Roser's offense: "The O-Line was something we wanted to focus on strengthening this off season. With the signing of Dimi, we have a great homegrown player who brings with him his experience and strength from playing in the first division in college. He will certainly make an impact on our offensive line this year."
