There are only a few homegrown defensive backs that have the impact Joshua Poznanski has had on his team over the last three years.

Since 2021, the German safety is playing for the Frankfurt Galaxy. After a few injuries that set him back, he now returned to the field fully healthy. In four games this season, Poznanski recorded 17 total tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, and two pass breakups. But how does he feel personally after his comeback?

In an interview, the safety expressed how important it is to return to the field and not to look back. "I am back,"the 28-year-old defender commented. "That is all that matters to me."

The comeback after the comeback

In Week 7, Poznanski played a crucial role in the comeback-win against the Hamburg Sea Devils. “Emerging with a win against a team like the Hamburg Sea Devils is always a rewarding feeling,” the Galaxy safety admitted. “It is beautiful to see that we play four quarter football - no matter what´s the score.” At the end, the Galaxy were able to win their fifth game this season with a final score of 17-14, after trailing the Sea Devils with 0-14 at halftime. But how far will the Galaxy get this season?

"The last couple of games showed that we absolutely are a championship contender," Poznanski commented. "Score-wise, there were some close games, but ultimately, we always managed to impose our will to succeed. However, the European League of Football is a highly competitive league, with multiple franchises having great setups and outstanding rosters. So, time will tell [how far we will go]."

Can the Galaxy repeat their success of 2021?

When asked what his team can do better to possibly repeat their success of 2021, Poznanski pointed at penalties and big plays. “Getting better during a season is achievable by unleashing your full potential. On our way to reach our full potential, we need to get rid of unnecessary penalties and getting hit by big plays.” Until Week 6, the Galaxy suffered he seventh-most penalty yards out of all teams in the league, with 391 on 41 penalties. “If you look at the statistics, you will see that teams mostly score on us with big plays or on drives that include penalties.”

On the flip side, the Galaxy currently have the best turnover margin in the league (+1.17) and the lowest third-down conversion percentage (24.42 %). Only time will tell if this will be enough to hoist the Championship Game trophy for a second time in three years. But no matter what, German safety Joshua Poznanski has returned to the field and is ready to make his presence felt.
