Focus on rushing game: Surge re-sign Hunter and Helm

After signing a new running back in Tomiwa Oyewo, Stuttgart Surge has now followed up. RB Kai Hunter and fullback León Helm have each signed a new contract for the coming season.

Hunter is therefore facing his fourth year in the league. The 26-year-old German made his debut with Frankfurt Galaxy in 2022. He played as a back-up, but still saw 41 rushing attempts. He recorded significantly more impact after his move to Stuttgart. Hunter has played in a total of 31 ELF games. He has rushed for 909 yards and nine touchdowns.

"I can't wait to finish  what we started my first two seasons in Stuttgart. 2025 Championship Bound!", explains Hunter.

Two-time All-Star stays in Stuttgart

León Helm is also set for his fourth season in the ELF. The 29-year-old played for Frankfurt Galaxy from 2022 to 2023 before moving to Stuttgart in 2024. Here he plays a major role in the blocking scheme, and in finishing drives.

Helm recorded 32 rushing attempts in 29 ELF games. He scored 122 yards and eight touchdowns. He was selected to the ELF All-star team in both 2022 and 2023.

So far this offseason, Stuttgart Surge has focused entirely on their rushing game. In addition to the running backs and fullback Helm, the entire Lion offense has already signed.
