Fire dominates Sea Devils, Thunder wins overtime drama

Hamburg Sea Devils (2-8) at Rhein Fire (10-1)

Final: 2-51

Coming off a bye week, Rhein Fire picked up right where they left off and defeated the Hamburg Sea Devils decisively. The league's top rusher, Glen Toonga, quickly took control of the game in Rhein Fire's favor, adding another touchdown to his total. The Sea Devils managed to block the extra point and returned it for two points, but these were the only points Rhein Fire allowed all day. What followed was pure dominance from Rhein Fire, who, just like in their first matchup, proved to be the clearly better team.

Although Rhein Fire's quarterback, Jadrian Clark, threw several interceptions, the Sea Devils couldn’t turn them into points against Fire's strong defense. Clark shook off the turnovers and, together with his receivers, created multiple touchdowns, making the team's dominance clear on the scoreboard.

In the fourth quarter, Rhein Fire's backups were able to finish the game smoothly, allowing Fire to improve their record to 10-1. With the Surge's loss to the Raiders, Rhein Fire now has a strong chance of securing one of the top two seeds, which would give them a bye week during the Wildcard round and home-field advantage in the playoff semifinals.

In Week 13, the Hamburg Sea Devils will host the Cologne Centurions, while Rhein Fire will also play at home, facing the Berlin Thunder.

Wroclaw Panthers (4-6) at Berlin Thunder (5-6)

Final: 34-36 (after overtime)

In an intense rivalry game in the Eastern Conference, the Berlin Thunder and Wroclaw Panthers don't give each other a lot. The game had to be decided in overtime.

Both teams started the game rather slowly. After that, the defenses took over, which could not have been more different. The Panthers defense hardly allowed anything on the ground but was often beaten through the air. The Thunder defense locked down the air but collapsed in run defense.

Dawid Brzozowski took advantage of this, breaking a number of tackles and taking over the game with 193 rushing-yards and three touchdowns. Panthers QB Josiah Norwood also had to scramble again and again and scored 137 rushing yards.

Thunder signal caller Jacob Sullivan also scrambled, flying a salto for a touchdown in the first half. In the passing game, he was convincing as usual and scored 343 yards and two touchdowns. Shortly before the break, he showed accuracy and found receiver Aaron Jackson in a minimal window to give his team the halftime lead.

In a wild overtime, both teams scored a touchdown in their drives. The overtime went into the second and third round. Thunder's Sullivan missed his receiver on a deep route. The following field goal attempt was blocked. Panthers kicker Jakub Ałdaś also missed.

The game had to be decided by 2-point conversions. Berlin Thunder won the game with their fourth. The defense strikes one last time. Aaron Jackson runs the ball to victory.

The Panthers' playoff dream is over. The Thunder also have no chance of reaching the main round. In week 13, the Panthers will face a strengthened Frankfurt Galaxy. Berlin Thunder will face Rhein Fire.
