Fantasy Friday Week 5: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em

For the second week in a row we have updated point totals for the season. Make sure to login every week and check on where your are in the leaderboard standing of thousands of fantasy manager players across the globe.

With that out of the way, let me, Alex Malchow, take a look at some key players to consider in your lineup this week!

Start'Em Week 5

QB Reilly Hennessey, Stuttgart Surge, (3,320,000 GC)

I may be late to this Hennessey party, but the Surge quarterback is quietly putting together an MVP-like season through four weeks of play. The quarterback of the undefeated Surge has thrown 10 touchdowns in four games along with 758 yards. In an even more impressive feat, Hennessey is the only quarterback to start multiple games this season and has not yet thrown an interception this season. This week, he and the Surge face off against a Munich defense that they played well against in week one. Look for Hennessey to add some yards with his legs as this should be another good game from the veteran.

WR Darion Chafin, Raiders Tirol, (2,700,000 GC)

Chafin was hot and cold through the first two weeks of ELF play, as he was able to make some splash plays but was hampered by drops. Last week Chafin looked comfortable for maybe the first time as he and new Raiders quarterback N’Kosi Perry showed they had some chemistry despite only spending a few days together. Chafin scored the game-winning touchdown for the Raiders and made several highlight plays in the fourth quarter coming up clutch for his squad in a must-win game. Looking ahead, I expect Perry to look his way again against a weaker Mercenaries defense. And Chafin can very likely be again one of his main targets.

WR Noah Toure (1,640,00 GC)

Toure is a budding young talent for the Vienna Vikings who caught two passes for 66 yards, what turned out to be the game-winning score last week. With fellow Vikings receiver Jordan Buoah out with an injury, the Vienna offense will look to the young talent to step up into more of a deep-threat role. This could mean big fantasy points for the homegrown star in weeks to come.

Sit'Em Week 5

RB Glen Toonga, Rhein Fire, (3,740,000 GC)

I know what you’re thinking, why bench Toonga? He was great last week, he’s still the best running back in the league! Toonga currently has a very expensive price and is coming off of a physical - I mean ultra physical - game against Paris where he carried the Rhein Fire to a win. This week, there is no letup against a Berlin Thunder defense that features Kyle Kitchens, Alex Spillum, and Ludvig Myren. I don’t expect Toonga to be able to carry the load for a big game two weeks in a row.

WR Aaron Jackson, Berlin Thunder, (2,710,00 GC)

Staying in the Rhein Fire v Berlin Thunder matchup, I will not be playing Aaron Jackson this week. The Thunder receiver will certainly be targeted by the Rhein Fire defense that played well against Paris. Look for Tony Anderson and the Rhein Fire import defenders to double-cover Jackson and make someone else on the Berlin offense beat them.

QB Chad Jeffries (4,180,000)

The Munich Ravens hype has died down significantly since the pre-season. Ravens quarterback Chad Jeffries looked rattled in week one against a fast, physical, and well-coached Surge defense, as Munich mustered only a field goal. He and the Ravens will certainly be looking for revenge in this one. However, their performance last week in Tirol was less than inspiring. I’d leave Jeffries on the bench this week against what might be one of the ELF’s best defenses.
