European League of Football expands homegrown-market for three nations
The European League of Football is a month away from the start of the season on May 25th. Having started on April 20, the Pre-Season is in full swing for all teams competing in the biggest European league. With 17 teams from nine European countries starting in 2024, the homegrown markets are important for every franchise building a roster. With the 2024 season approaching, the European League of Football has now officially expanded the homegrown market for three nations competing.
While the Polish franchise Panthers Wrocław will be able to sign and license Ukrainian players as homegrown in the future, the ELF has now also expanded the homegrown market of the Czech Republic, with the Prague Lions competing, to Slovakia and Hungary, featuring the Fehérvár Enthroners, to Romania. All franchises of the continent-wide league have agreed to the measure in order to further strengthen balanced competition and give more foreign players a chance to compete at the highest level.
With Berlin Thunder, Hamburg Sea Devils, the reigning champion Rhein Fire, Frankfurt Galaxy, Cologne Centurions, Stuttgart Surge, Munich Ravens (all Germany), Paris Musketeers (France), Milano Seamen (Italy), Raiders Tirol, Vienna Vikings (both Austria), Panthers Wroclaw (Poland), Madrid Bravos, Barcelona Dragons (both Spain), Prague Lions (Czech Republic), Fehérvár Enthroners (Hungary) and Helvetic Mercenaries (Switzerland), 17 teams from nine nations will be competing. All teams are united by one big goal: the Championship Game 2024 on 22 September in the VELTINS Arena of the traditional football club FC Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen.
