Enthroners WR Samuel Bhoedjang – A Rising Star in the ELF?

Do the Enthroners have an upcoming star in their ranks?

At just 22 years old, Dutch wide receiver Samuel Bhoedjang, with his notable height of 186cm and weight of 83kg, is a rising star in the European American football scene. His journey through teams like the Amsterdam Panthers, New Mexico Military Institute, and PPI Recruits, along with accolades including six Division 1 NCAA offers, appearances in the Dutch National Team, and recognition as a PPI All-Star, has culminated in his latest venture: joining the European League of Football (ELF) with the Fehervar Enthroners.

Why the ELF and the Enthroners?

Bhoedjang's decision to join the ELF was influenced by unforeseen eligibility issues in his collegiate career. "I actually wanted to go back to college, but due to eligibility issues, I couldn't commit to any team," he explained. Faced with a crucial choice between junior college and professional play, Bhoedjang chose the latter. "I chose to go pro and especially for the European League of Football because of the platform and opportunities it gives young European players to grow bigger in their football careers," he stated, highlighting the league's connections with the NFL International Player Pathway Program.

On selecting the Enthroners, Bhoedjang expressed a keen sense of belonging and opportunity. "The Enthroners offered me the best opportunity. It's up to me to capitalize on it and make it a life-changing season," he said. His competitive drive was further ignited by roster moves within the league, particularly the signing of a former Alabama defensive back by the Prague Lions. "I knew I had to sign with the Enthroners as they'll face them twice in the season. I love competition like that."

Looking Forward to the First Season

Regarding his first season, Bhoedjang's enthusiasm is palpable. "Honestly, I'm just looking forward to playing football again," he said, referencing his break due to injuries. "And now I am extremely healthy, I feel great, and my athleticism is better than ever. So, I'm excited to show that off."

The Path to the Enthroners

Bhoedjang revealed that his journey to the Enthroners involved discussions with multiple teams. "There were two other teams I was very close to signing with. I chose the Enthroners after a simple phone call with the Head Coach," he shared, emphasizing his need for a conducive environment to focus solely on football and his NFL aspirations.

In a succinct response about what he brings to the team, Bhoedjang confidently stated, "Touchdowns." Looking ahead, he sees himself in the NFL International Player Pathway Program, then in the NFL, and ultimately, "being a quarterback's favorite target. Making a mark for European wide receivers and being a pioneer for the European skill position."

Samuel Bhoedjang's path to the ELF and his aspirations beyond showcase the growing opportunities and international pathways in American football. His direct quotes reveal a player with a clear vision, immense drive, and an eagerness to redefine the role of European athletes that play skill positions. His upcoming season with the Enthroners is not just about personal success; it's about setting a precedent for European talent in the global arena of American football.
