ELF further expands remote production - ARRI supports final production with high-end cameras

The European League of Football (ELF) has consistently pushed ahead with the expansion of remote production in the 2024 season, both in terms of quantity and quality. Of the total of 106 matches before the Championship Game between the Vienna Vikings and Rhein Fire on Sunday (Kickoff: 15:30 CET) in Gelsenkirchen, 75 were already produced remotely in the current season, i.e. without a broadcast van.

ELF has set up its own remote studio at the production company "novel media" in Munich for this purpose. Up to six live matches were produced in one day.

"Two thirds of all games are produced remotely"

"The ELF uses state-of-the-art technology to work more cost-efficiently. Two thirds of all games are produced remotely from the studio in Munich using the latest cloud technology and in cooperation with industry giants such as AWS. In areas such as sustainability and cost efficiency, the ELF is a driver of innovation compared to other leagues”, says Zeljko Karajica, Managing Director of the league, which is supported in this major project by AWS and other well-known partners such as Vizrt, Netorium, Netventure, Logic and Riedel.

In terms of spectator interest, the ELF is about to play its record game: more than 35,000 tickets were sold in advance for the season highlight at FC Schalke 04's VELTINS-Arena with the 2022 and 2023 ELF Champions competing against each other - more than ever before for a game in the continental football league, which only started in 2021.

ARRI cameras will provide unique images

The ELF Championship Game will also set new standards in terms of production: The renowned film technology company ARRI is providing three of its latest cameras for the final game, upgrading the production to a 10+2 camera production.

ARRI's new "ALEXA 35 Live - Multicam System" will be used for the first time at an ELF match during the Championship Game. Three cameras - two on tripods, one mobile, each with Fujinon lenses - capture the action on the pitch from the sidelines. These high-end cameras with a very high dynamic range provide unique images with an unmistakable look and send them live to the feed. Thanks to a 4K sensor, a shallow depth of field is possible. ARRI cameras are used in countless feature film, TV and commercial productions and are appreciated by the world's best filmmakers.
