Cologne Centurions sign DB Juan Lua after Kirk injury
Felix Pahl

The Cologne Centurions are making moves after a tough start to the season. Following the injury of A-import Shedrick Kirk, who has been placed on Injured Reserve, the team has added a new defensive back to strengthen their secondary.
Experienced and versatile defender
The Centurions have signed Juan Lua, a talented and versatile defensive back who played college football at UMass. Lua had a strong senior season in 2023, appearing in all 12 games and making an impact on both defense and special teams. He recorded 23 tackles, two interceptions, and led the team with five pass breakups, earning him a spot on the College Football Network All-Independent Second Team for both categories.
Lua, originally from Xavier Prep, was a multi-sport athlete in high school and earned All-CIF and all-league honors as a team captain.
Lua will now face a big challenge right away, as his first game with the Centurions comes in Week 4 against the high-powered Frankfurt Galaxy offense. Cologne will count on his experience to help stabilize the defensive unit moving forward.
