The Cologne Centurions have signed Judd Erickson after releasing quarterback Dylan Jacob earlier. Dylan Jacob had 465 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in three games. “The Centurions' offense has not been able to meet expectations so far”, the team published on social media on Sunday. Judd Erickson takes over for Jacob.

Another US American for the backfield

The US American quarterback with NCAA1 and CFL experience moves from Denver to Cologne. Erickson began his college career in NCAA Division 1 with the Colorado State Rams. After three years, he graduated, then transferred to the University of San Diego as a graduate student. There he ran as starting quarterback in 2022, his final year of college. In his final four games for the Toreros, he completed 68.6 percent of his passes for 1,156 yards, with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Entering the European League of Football

That put him in the sights of the Denver Broncos' NFL team. But Erickson turned down their invitation to camp and instead decided to accept a contract offer from the Canadian Football League. He signed a contract with the multiple Grey Cup-winning BC Lions of Vancouver. There, however, he was unable to assert himself against the established quarterbacks. He is now trying to make a name for himself in Cologne.

Centurions enter Week 4 against Rhein Fire with a record of 1-2.
