Cologne Centurions pull off epic 21 point comeback in overtime

Frankfurt Galaxy (3-6) At Cologne Centurions (4-5)

Final: 43-37

After a back-and-forth first half the Frankfurt Galaxy came out of the halftime break on a mission, scoring on three straight drives and extending their lead to 34-13. However, the Centurions never quit as they crawled their way back in the game as Isaiah Weed found receiver Carlos Hill time after time in the second half converting several clutch third downs.

Hill threw a touchdown pass on a reverse cutting the lead to 15, after that the Centurions defense stepped up in the fourth quarter forcing consecutive Galaxy punts. Weed again found Hill for a long touchdown on fourth down, then connected with homegrown Ben Frohlich for the score that tied the game at 37-37 with under two minutes remaining. Following the score, Jens Appelt missed the extra point keeping the score tied.

In overtime, Weed found Janncik Loercks for a touchdown, however, the Centurions once again missed the crucial extra point, leaving the door wide open for Frankfurt to win with a touchdown and extra point. Once again the Cologne defense stepped up in the clutch, forcing a turnover on downs to win the game. The win meant completing an epic 21-point comeback in what was another instant classic game in the European League of Football.
