Stuttgart Surge has extended their contract with a defensive cornerstone. The fans can welcome linebacker Luis Bach next season. Fellow LB Nikolas Knoblauch will also remain in Stuttgart.

“I'll be a leader on defense and putting my teammates in the best possible position to make a great play. The motivation: Winning it all at home,” says Bach, who has a great opportunity to succeed this season.

This year's Championship Game will take place on September 7th in the MHP Arena in Stuttgart. Bach and Surge could therefore celebrate their first European League of Football title at home.

The 30-year-old Homegrown is facing his third season in the ELF and also his third with Stuttgart Surge. Bach has developed into an important player in the Surge defense since entering the league in 2023 and led his team onto the field as team captain last season. In 24 games, he recorded 104 tackles, including eight for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also made one interception, which he returned 38 yards for a touchdown.

Experienced back-up remains loyal to Surge

Niklas Knoblauch, on the other hand, is already facing his fifth season in the European League of Football. He made his debut for Frankfurt Galaxy in 2021. The 29-year-old Homegrown therefore knows what it feels like to win titles. In 2022, he decided to move to Surge, where he has remained ever since.

In 33 games, six of which he started, the linebacker made 85 tackles, including 15 for loss and two sacks. Knoblauch also caught an interception and forced a fumble and recovered another.

Stuttgart Surge thus bring back two experienced homegrowns in its defense. The team is gearing up for the big hunt for the Championship Game at home.
