The Vienna Vikings are the first team to qualify for the 2025 ELF Championship Game at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart. With a hard-fought 28-20 victory over the Nordic Storm, the Vikings booked their ticket to the final for the second straight year. After last season’s heartbreaking loss in the Championship Game, they now have another chance to lift the trophy.

Head Coach Chris Calaycay was proud of his team’s Semi Final performance but reminded everyone that the job is not finished yet. Speaking to ProSieben after the game, he said: "I’m really proud of my whole team, the entire franchise. We are in the final now, but I told the team right after the game: we’re not done. On Monday, we start preparing."

Quarterback Ben Holmes shared the same message. While happy with the win, he also pointed out where the Vikings need to improve: "We’re not done yet. Of course, I’m happy, but I want more. We had two three-and-outs in a row, and that cannot happen if we want to win. But we will work on it."

Wide receiver Yannick Mayr, who returned from injury this season, proved to be a key deep target for Holmes in the Semi Final. Having played for the Stuttgart Surge last year, he was asked about the possibility of facing his former team in the final: "I have many friends in Stuttgart, so it would be cool to play against them."

All eyes on Championship

With this win, the Vikings are back on the biggest stage of European football. Whether they face the Stuttgart Surge or the Munich Ravens in the final, one thing is clear: the Vikings are hungry to finish what they started. After the loss in 2024, the team has only one goal left - to bring the ELF Championship trophy back to Vienna.
