Best homegrowns: Youngsters continue to shine in week 9

In the ELF, homegrowns play an important role in the success of every franchise. In this segment, we take a look at the best perfomances of the week. In week 9, a bunch of young homegrowns stood out.

Nándor Tóth, wide receiver, Fehérvár Enthroners

The Fehérvár Enthroners are on a roll! The Hungarian franchise notched up another win against the Milano Seamen. The performance of wide receiver Nándor Tóth also played a part in this. The veteran regularly showed his receiving skills in the short passing game.

More importantly, Tóth contributed two touchdowns. He finished the game with eight catches for 65 yards. Last week, two defensive players made the list for the Enthroners, this week, an offensive player gets the shoutout.

Chris Voumbo, running back, Paris Musketeers

For the first time this season, running back Chris Voumbo was given the starting role for the Paris Musketeers. The Frenchman had been an efficient role player up to this point.

It quickly became clear that more responsibility in the offensive would not cause him any problems. The opposite was the case: Voumbo made several explosive plays with his fast and straightforward running style.

The 26-year-old racked up 161 rushing yards on just 14 attempts, contribuiting in a big way to the 29-13 victory over the Madrid Bravos.

Nikolaus Huszar, defensive back, Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings stay unbeaten! During the dominant 34-9 win over Berlin Thunder, defensive back Nikolaus Huszar caught a lot of attention. The 23-year-old defensive back struck like lightning against the Thunder.

He finished the game with twelve tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup. He did not give up any yards for free in coverage and set the tone with a couple of physical reps in press coverage.

Milan Spiller, wide receiver, Helvetic Mercenaries

We might have a new star on the horizon, as Milan Spiller makes back-to-back appereances in this list. After his great performance against the Vienna Vikings last week, he was named Honorary Captain for the game against the Munich Ravens. The 21-year-old again demonstrated his skills on this match day.

Spiller caught eight passes for a whopping 165 receiving yards and one touchdown. Despite the clear defeat, he stood out positively.

Martin Pinter, defensive liner, Cologne Centurions

Cologne's defense made sure that Hamburg Sea Devils quarterback D'Angelo Fulford did not have an easy day at work. Veteran Martin Pinter played a part in this.

The defensive lineman and his teammates put Fulford under pressure several times and forced him to make bad decisions. Pinter himself contributed three tackles, a pass breakup and a sack.

Luis Fiedler, linebacker, Cologne Centurions

The same can be said about linebacker Luis Fiedler. The youngster collected ten tackles (twice as many as Cologne's second-best tackler), one sack and made one tackle for loss. Cologne's defense stood out against the Sea Devils, and both homegrowns played a part in it.
