As the European League of Football season heads into the second half, several homegrown talents shined bright in Week 8, proving how important European players are for their teams’ success.
Lars Heidrich steps up at QB
The Surge went into week 8 with a homegrown quarterback taking over for Reilly Hennessey against the Enthroners. Heidrich threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns as the Surge cruised to a win. The German passer was an efficient 16-25 on the day and also had a touchdown on a quarterback sneak.
Raiders homegrown talent steps up
The Raiders Tirol pulled off the upset of the weekend defeating the defending champion Rhein Fire 35-19. The victory was fueled by a 100 yard performance from running back Lucas Haslwanter, as well as Ogbevoen on defense who finished the game with an impressive 16 tackles.
Four touchdown day for Brzozowski
ELF fans know that Dawid Brzozowski is one of the league’s best running backs, let alone homegrown players. This past weekend was another reminder why, as the Polish talent ran for 4 touchdowns and 88 yards against the Cologne Centurions padding his stats for the season nicely.
