As the European League of Football season heads into the second half, several homegrown talents shined bright in Week 7, proving how important European players are for their teams’ success.

Musketeers duo shines

In the matchup between the Paris Musketeers and Cologne Centurions, ELF veteran Nicolas Khandar once again showed his power as a runner. The 32-year-old rushed for an impressive 131 yards on only 12 carries and added a touchdown, helping move the ball down the field and put points on the board.

His teammate Hugo Tekedam also delivered a standout performance. Known so far this season as a reliable target for quarterback Jaylon Henderson, Tekedam displayed his versatility by contributing not just as a receiver but also as a passer. He scored one receiving touchdown and even threw for two touchdowns himself, showing his explosiveness on the ground as well.

Tight ends take center stage

Tight ends often get overlooked, but two homegrown players proved how crucial this position can be, especially when big-bodied tight ends have great hands. Florian Bierbaumer of the Vienna Vikings had already made headlines in the first clash against the Raiders Tirol with an eye-catching catch and continued his top form in Week 7. Bierbaumer recorded seven receptions for 80 yards and three touchdowns, playing a huge role in the Vikings’ victory.

Similarly, Philip Okonkwo impressed for the Munich Ravens. The 24-year-old caught six passes for 80 yards and scored two touchdowns, including the decisive score that secured a revenge win over the Stuttgart Surge and kept the Ravens in the playoff race.

Defensive duo makes noise

On the defensive side, homegrown players also made a big impact. Hubert Ogrodowczyk was a key figure in the Panthers’ narrow win over the Fehérvár Enthroners, putting constant pressure on quarterback Brock Domann. The Polish player registered two sacks and two tackles for loss, reminding fans of his strong performances during his All-Star debut season in 2021.

Meanwhile, Madrid Bravos linebacker Julio Aguado turned into a nightmare for Hamburg Sea Devils quarterback Micah Leon. Aguado grabbed two interceptions and was a crucial factor in the Bravos’ dominant team effort.

As the season continues, fans can expect even more big plays from Europe’s own stars, who keep proving they belong on the ELF’s biggest stage.
