Best Homegrowns of Week 14
Cara Iden

In the final week of the European League of Football regular season, several homegrown talents shined bright in Week 14, proving how important European players were for their teams’ success.
Føns keeps shining
Simon Føns, the homegrown wide receiver of the Nordic Storm, scored three touchdowns in a tough game against Rhein Fire. He caught eight passes for 140 receiving yards and ran 101 kick return yards, demonstrating his effectiveness in the return game as well.
These numbers once again highlight the impact of the Danish receiver. His quarterback, Jadrian Clark, will be counting on him in the playoffs. They will face Rhein Fire again this Sunday in the first playoff round, where they have the chance to prove that they are the best team in the north.

Haslwanter leads Raiders to a clear victory
Lukas Haslwanter, the homegrown running back of the Raiders Triol, had an outstanding day this weekend. He ran for five touchdowns and 200 yards on 20 carries against the Cologne Centurions, playing a key role in a clear win in the final game of the season for the Raiders, as they had already been eliminated from playoff contention before the game. With this performance, the Austrian finishes the year ranked second in the league’s rushing leaderboard, having recorded 1.042 yards and fourteen touchdowns this season.

Reliable kicking completes the Lions’ victory
Kickers usually don’t stand in the spotlight, but their performances often decide the outcome of a game. Finding a reliable kicker is one of the major challenges for many teams in the ELF. The Prague Lions have a skilled homegrown kicker in Marek Hrubon. In the Lions’ dominant win over the Helvetic Mercenaries, he made nine out of ten PATs, adding nine points to the final 69-12 score. His accuracy ranks among the best in the league, with a success rate of 82.22 percent on point-after-touchdown attempts and 76.92 percent on field goals. Over the twelve games of the 2025 regular season, Hrubon scored a total of 67 points.
Although the Lions narrowly missed the playoffs with a 7-5 record, they achieved a winning season for the first time since joining the European League of Football in 2023 and demonstrated that they can be competitive.
The importance of homegrown talent
Week 14 proved once again that homegrown players are vital to their teams’ success. Their deep connection to the franchises often fuels exceptional performances when it matters most. With the season now entering the playoffs, their contributions could make the difference between reaching the next round or being eliminated from the playoffs.
