Best homegrowns: New and familiar faces show out in week 13

In the ELF, homegrowns play an important role in the success of every franchise. In this segment, we take a look at the best perfomances of the week. In week 13, a couple of new faces balled out, joining a prestigious list of well-known playmakers.

Dawid Brzozowski, running back, Panthers Wrocław

As they have done all season, the the Panthers Wrocław once again heavily relied on running back Dawid Brzozowski. During their 54-19 win over Frankfurt Galaxy, the ball carrier churned out 130 rushing yards on 28 carries. He found the end zone twice.

He is now up to 1,135 rushing yards this year and will be looking to finish his season strong against the Prague Lions. Brzozowski was one of the best players in the ELF in 2023. He was a First-Team All-Star selection and won the Homegrown of the Year Award. This year, he once again has good chances to win one of the prestigious awards.

Offensive weapons, Stuttgart surge

We could not decide who to put in, so let's just include all of them! The Stuttgart Surge once again showed their dominance, this time against the Barcelona Dragons. Winning 56-0, a couple of homegrowns stood out on offense.

Wide receiver Louis Geyer caught eight balls for 121 yards and two touchdowns, Levin Liebenow rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Kai Hunter also added 116 rushing yards and another touchdown. Hunter also played quarterback for a couple of snaps, completing six passes for 128 yards and a touchdown. The homegrowns for the Surge are getting hotter and hotter at the right time.

Johannes Zirngibl, defensive end, Munich Ravens

A lot of players stood out during the Munich Ravens 38-13 victory over the Helvetic Mercenaries. Johannes Zirngibl got to the quarterback twice, sacking him both times. He also added two tackles in run defense. With one game to go and 6,5 sacks to his name, Zirngibl has already surpassed his sack total from last year (5,5).

Martin Pinter, defensive end, Cologne Centurions

The pass rushers really got after it last weekend! Martin Pinter has been a well-known name in the ELF. As the Cologne Centurions narrowly beat the Hamburg Sea Devils 30-23, Pinter collected two important sacks, while also adding three tackles and a tackle for loss.

Wadjihe Said, cornerback, Paris Musketeers

The Paris secondary made life difficult for the Madrid Bravos. One reason for this was the play of cornerback Wadjihe Said. Taking a closer look at the stats, the veteran did not register an interception, but he had three pass breakups.

The Musketeers had good cornerback play the entire season, now Said and Paris will look to take their talents into the postseason for the first time in the history of the franchise.
