Berlin Thunder hire Dean Cokinos as head coach
The Berlin Thunder have hired Dean Cokinos to be their new head coach for the 2025 season. Cokinos takes over for the German Capital city ELF squad as they hope to rebuild the team identity after three years of Johnny Schmuck.
Cokinos brings with him a wealth of experience from the college, NFL, and Arena game in the US having coached 16 seasons in various arena football leagues and three years as college coach. He also worked four years as a Pro-scout for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
Cokinos has also coached in Europe, his last coaching gig on the continent was a defensive coordinator of the Berlin Rebels in 2019. Prior to that he spent seven seasons in Germany as head coach of the Noris Rams and Munich Cowboys, winning two GFL South Conference titles in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.
Cokinos has a tough task ahead as he tries to get the Thunder into the playoffs for the first time in team history in 2025. Look for the Thunder's new head man to be recruiting in some of the area's top talent for next summer.
