Andre Schnura plays national anthem at Championship Game

He didn't score a goal, didn't win a duel, wasn't even on the pitch. Nevertheless, Andre Schnura was one of the stars of the European Football Championship in Germany this summer. The man with the saxophone traveled from stadium to stadium, thrilled tens of thousands at the fan festivals and played a large part in the peaceful and cheerful atmosphere. Schnura will be in the spotlight again on Sunday: Before the Championship Game of the European League of Football at FC Schalke 04's VELTINS Arena, the musician will perform at the Power Party, and he will also play the national anthem on his instrument before kick-off.

"Andre was one of the heroes of the European Football Championship"

“We are delighted that Andre Schnura is coming to the final. It's another highlight of our big ELF party, where the European football family comes together in Gelsenkirchen. For me, Andre was one of the heroes of the European Football Championship, because with his open and relaxed manner he helped people to come together and celebrate. As a musician, he is also an ambassador for our sport and our league,” says Patrick Esume, Commissioner of the European League of Football.

Before the tournament in Germany, Andre Schnura had lost his job as a music teacher and used his free time to travel around the country during the European Championship and play the saxophone for all the fans. Videos of this went viral on social media channels and Schnura became an internet phenomenon. He now has more than 811,000 followers on Instagram alone and is going on tour in October with guest appearances in Hamburg, Dortmund, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Dresden and Frankfurt. His motto: Love is the answer.

"I can hardly wait to stand on the pitch in Gelsenkirchen"

“I get to play in front of more than 35,000 spectators in the VELTINS Arena and live on ProSieben at the Championship Game of the European League of Football on September 22. Hello? Help! This is a great honor and I can hardly wait to stand on the pitch in Gelsenkirchen,” says Andre Schnura, looking forward to his performance full of excitement.
