Tirol Raiders sign offensive tackle Basil Weber

The former Maple League All-Star will wear silver and black in 2023.

One of Europe’s best offensive tackles will play in Austria next season. Basil Weber is leaving the Frankfurt Galaxy to join the Tirol Raiders.

European veteran

Basil Weber has played in many European countries already. Weber started his career in his native country Switzerland, where he played for the Geneva Whoppers and Lausanne University Owls, before making his way to the French Thonon Black Panthers. One year later the Swiss played for the New Yorker Lions in the GFL, where he won the title and was named to the league’s All-Star team.

After not playing football during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Swisstackle joined the Kupio Steelers in the Finnish Maple League. In his only season with the Steelers, Weber once again won the league and was selected to the All-Star team. In 2022, the Swiss standout joined the Frankfurt Galaxy for his first season in the European League of Football.

Weber will further improve an already stacked offensive line including former Steven Nielsen, Jeffery Asare, and Gerd Mitterdorfer that should do agreat job protecting first-year Raiders quarterback Christian Strong.

Weber can’t wait to play for his new team:

Raiders head coach Kevin Herron is ecstatic about his new tackle :

Being one of the best right tackles in all of Europe, the Swiss standout will be a pass rushers nightmare in the upcoming European League of Football season.
