Malik Stanley joins Championship Game participant Hamburg Sea Devils
Hamburg have secured one of the players who caused them problems in 2022.
With a blockbuster move, the Hamburg Sea Devils have signed elite wide receiver Malik Stanley just before christmas. Stanley joins the Sea Devils after new quarterback Preston Haire was already presented this week. The wideout goes from nightmare to dream player. Previously, the 25-year-old US-American was active for the European League of Football rivals from Wroclaw, where he collected 1.099 yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 games. Against the Sea Devils, it was enough in the fourth week of play to secure 144 yards and three touchdowns in only nine caught balls.
Brett Morgan, offensive coordinator:
“Malik is a force. He’s a player that European League of Football-defenses had to build their plan around stopping, and he still wrecked people weekly. Malik has a unique combination of strength and quickness, it’s unusual to find receivers his size who are also twitched up and explosive. You feel his explosiveness once he has the ball, he’s a physical and violent runner with a mindset to punish people. Having Malik as a centerpiece helps create opportunities for our other offensive skill players as well, and I’m excited to see our whole offense benefit with his presence.”
Malik Stanley is a product of Coffeyville Community College, University of South Alabama (2016-2018) and Lousiana Tech University in 2019, where he earned an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention. The 100-plus kg wideout was a problem in several matchups in the league last year.
After signing Stanley and Haire, the Hanseatic franchise has reached their limit in Americans on offense - meaning the departure of both Jéan Constant and Lamar Jordan. Constant already signed a contract with the Milano Seamen for 2023. Stanley, as a wide receiver, brings a whole new skillset to the Sea Devils' offense, and adds to the already announced changes around Offensive Coordinator Brett Morgan.
