European League of Football expands Practice Squad to 12 players
Roster to continue with 65 players in future.
The European League of Football expands the Practice Squad to 12 players for the upcoming season. The Active Roster will consist of 53 players and the Game Day Roster of 46 players. A total of 65 players will continue to make up the roster of a team.
The reason for this is to offer the teams more flexibility in case of injuries and to give young players the opportunity to develop in the best European league. In doing so, the roster numbers are approaching that of the NFL.
Teams have until the first of May to put together and present their roster for the 2023 season. At the same time, the teams' official preseason begins, which includes the start of workouts for all signed players.
The Wednesday after the ninth week of play marks the official signing deadline - also called the Official Roster Deadline. Until then, franchises remain open to signing players for the current season.
Other deadlines remain in place. For example, the Active Roster must be entered by the Wednesday evening before each Game Day and the Game Day Roster by 6 p.m. on Friday evening.
The European League of Football will start its third season in June 2023, with 17 teams targeting the final on September 24 in the SCHAUINSLAND-REISEN-ARENA: From Germany, Berlin Thunder, Hamburg Sea Devils, Frankfurt Galaxy, Rhein Fire, Cologne Centurions, Stuttgart Surge, Leipzig Kings and Munich Ravens want to qualify for the Bowl in Duisburg. The same goes for defending champions Vienna Vikings and Raiders Tirol from Austria, Barcelona Dragons (Spain), Panthers Wroclaw (Poland), Milano Seamen (Italy), Prague Lions (Czech Republic), Fehérvár Enthroners (Hungary), Helvetic Guards (Switzerland) and Paris Football Team (France).
