Tomiwa Oyewo's favorite memories, teammates, and inspirations

Football is not just about the present and the future — it is also about the unforgettable moments from the past. For Tomiwa Oyewo, one of his favorite memories on the field includes a spectacular 10-yard touchdown in 2023. What makes this play so special? It happened against his own team.  

"It was only a 10-yard run, but it was a duo play, and I just scored on it. That’s my favorite play," he said.  

But it wasn’t just the touchdown itself. Oyewo remembers a key moment in that play where he made an unexpected move to escape a sure tackle.  

"I was supposed to be tackled at the one-yard line, maybe even behind the line of scrimmage. But something took over, and I just kept going. I really don’t know what happened, but I thank God for it."  

Praise for his teammates  

Oyewo also speaks highly of his teammates, especially quarterback Chad Jeffries. He believes Jeffries is often underestimated but is a fantastic player.  

"You don’t expect what you get from Chad. People might think he is just a typical pocket passer, like Jared Goff, but he has that dog mentality. His athleticism is second to none."  

He also talks about his new teammate Riley, someone he has played against many times in the past.  

"I’ve seen a lot of Riley. I know what to expect, and I can tell he has that competitive spirit."  

Learning from legends  

When asked about his inspirations, Oyewo looks beyond football. He admires NBA legend Kobe Bryant, whose "Mamba Mentality" has taught him the importance of determination.  

"You just have to be a dog," he says, referring to Kobe’s relentless work ethic.  

Another major influence in his life is The Lion King. For him, it’s more than just a movie — it’s a lesson about growth and learning from past mistakes.  

"It’s a great story about becoming who you are meant to be and trusting the process."
