Panthers DB Robinson thrilled about staying in Wrocław
The Wrocław Panthers re-signed DB Robinson for the 2022 season!
After joining the Panthers in the inaugural season, American defensive back Darius Robinson was re-signed by the Panthers. He will stay with the team throughout the 2022 season.
“Returning [to the Panthers] was the best situation for me”, Robinson explained. “Whenever you run into great people, you build a bond and relationship with them that you don’t want to break. The coaches, players, community, and the management have embraced me and I’m grateful for all they do for me on and off the field. […] These are the type of people you don’t mind putting it all on the line for”.
Robinson ended the 2021 season with three interceptions of which he advanced two for touchdowns, 16 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, seven pass-breakups, nine passes defensed, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two blocked field goals. He even returned six punts and seven kick-offs with which he gained 337 yards and one touchdown.
Looking ahead to next season, Robinson told us that the Panthers will focus on brining in the right people to bring the championship to Poland: “The goal for us in 2022 is to first put together the best talent of women, men, and football players that fit what we are aiming for”. He further added: “This off-season, a big focus for us has been bringing in the best character guys possible to fit what we are doing here. Yes we want talent, however, talent doesn’t out beat character. I really like the moves we are making. In doing so, we believe this will lead us to our ultimate goal of claiming a championship […]”.
Robinson currently lives in Wrocław and communicates with Panthers head coach Samel on a regular basis: “We have open communication, we talk about many things, even that which is outside of football. He trusts me and that’s all you can ask for. He has his expectations of me and that’s for me to lead and be who I am”.
At the end of our conversation, the Panther’s defensive playmaker noted that he is beyond excited to stay in Wrocław: “I would just like to say I am excited for what comes next and grateful for the Panthers Wrocław family […]”. He added: “The European League of Football is a great platform for all players across Europe and I will continue to represent it on and off the field! […]”.
