What you need to know before pre-season start

The European League of Football is only one month away from the start of the third season. Learn everything you need to know.

17 teams from nine nations will play for the Championship trophy in 2023. It is for them to decide, who will become European champion. One month before the start of the season, teams gather in training camps to set their team up for success. To go prepared into the next month, we got you covered with the most important information for the pre-season.

Roster changes:

With the official start of the pre-season on April 29, all teams are now able to bring in all players of their roster – including import players. Before that, just homegrown players were allowed to practice with the team. All players practicing with the team must be licensed by the league. Teams can not make changes to the official roster after the conclusion of Week 9. Expect changes in the roster in the next few weeks. A total of 65 players – including ten import players – can be signed to a European League of Football roster. Keep an eye on Zach Edwards, former Barcelona Dragons quarterback, in Paris or Louis Geyer being back with the Stuttgart Surge. Highlights will likely follow.

Scrimmages:

All teams of the European League of Football are able to organize combined practices or scrimmages with other teams. On May 20, the Hamburg Sea Devils will travel to Leipzig for a scrimmage, Helvetic Guards will travel to Paris and the Prague Lions will travel to Innsbruck and meet the Raiders. League external games are not allowed. Teams will also hold black/white practices or specific camps until the start of the season on June 3.
