Kahlil Carter resigns as head coach of the Cologne Centurions
Offensive Coordinator Christos Lambropoulos will take over as the interim head coach.
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Kahlil Carter is resigning as the head coach of the Cologne Centurions. The former NFL and NFL Europe player parts ways with the team due to differing opinions on the direction of the Centurions team for the upcoming season.
Coach Carter already said goodbye to the team and wished the players success in the upcoming season. “Many factors have led to my decision to resign. I wish the Centurions nothing but success in 2023”, said Carter.
Centurions general manager David Drane had the following to say: “We thank Kahlil Carter for the groundwork he has been able to lay over the past few months. We wish him success and all the best as he moves forward!”
With Carter now gone, offensive coordinator Christos Lambropoulos will take over the head coaching position on an interim basis. The 33-year-old Greek, who grew up in Australia, was the GFL Coach of the Year in 2021, when he led the Saarland Hurricanes to their most successful season in their history, finishing with a 9-3 record and a semifinal appearance.
GM David Drane is still optimistic for the 2023 European League of Football season:
“I am confident that we will play a good role in the upcoming season with our team, regardless of the current turmoil”
