ELF Stars Maceo Beard and Leander Wiegand chasing NFL IPP dream

The NFL off-season is fully underway as draft prospects and free agents prepare for their pro football opportunity. Of course this also means a new crop of international players enters the scene through the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program (IPP).

This year the ELF had two players selected to the 13 man group vying for a shot at their NFL dreams. French defensive back and ELF 2023 DPOY Maceo Beard, and German offensive lineman and 2023 ELF Champion Leander Weigand.

Both players are already in Florida at the IMG academy training under the mentorship of the IPP as they hope to get signed by an NFL team this spring.

Wiegand raises eyebrows

The Aachen Germany native, has been one of the strongest players of the group showing off his power in the weight room and solid technique on the field.

“I am projecting 40 plus bench press reps for that man, and he’s  probably gonna run under a 5 second 40.” - Head of the NFL IPP Dominic Fevrier-Mcpherson

“My goal is to be the strongest IPP player there is this year, and hopefully the strongest in the combine overall this year.” says Weigand who mentioned 42 bench press reps is his goal for the spring pro-day.

Maceo Beard shows elite football savvy

Maceo Beard turned heads while visiting the Senior Bowl practice for his eagerness to learn from the NFL draft prospects.

The former Paris Musketeer and Helvetic Guard was seen shadowing safeties during drills. He was also praised for his ability to ask questions, learn, and network with the plethora of NFL scouts, coaches, and media at the event.

“Maceo is a big body with long arms that is very athletic. He can play safety and nickel, we are going to move him around.” - Head of the NFL IPP Dominic Fevrier-Mcpherson

The ELF has produced two NFL players through the NFL IPP in Colts defensive back Macel Dabo and Ravens defensive lineman Adedayo Odeleye who both made the jump to the NFL following the 2021 ELF season. Maybe Beard or Wiegand can be next?
