Fehérvár Enthroners sign linebacker János Zilai

The Hungarian NFL International Combine invitee will wear blue and gold in 2023.

The Fehérvár Enthroners are stacking up their defense even further. After already signing two American standouts in Elijah Moody and Jebrai Regan and French linebacker Antony Rodrigues, one of the best Hungarians out there is joining the Enthroners in János Zilai.

Homegrown Hero

The 24-year-old linebacker has been playing Hungary or Serbia for all his live. After suiting up for the Szekszárd Badbones for four seasons, the longtime national team player made his way to Belgrade to play for Vukovi Beograd, before joining the Fehérvár Enthroners in 2018.

Zilai has had plenty of success since he joined the Enthroners. The young Hungarian was an instant difference maker and won the Hungarian Championship twice since joining them. Additionally, he won the CEFL Cup with the team just a few months ago in a 24-20 win over the Prague Lions.

But the young linebacker is no stranger to the big stage and garnered a lot of attention after his outstanding 2021 season in the Hungarian Football League. In only four games, Zilai racked up 40 tackles along with 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack, leading his team to the title. His impressive showing earned him an invitation to the 2021 NFL International combine.

“Most talented national player and team captain”

The team captain looking forward to the challenges in the big league: “It’s a strong pulling force to continue working together with my friends as teammates, as we have can have a bigger goal year by year. The defense got faster, stronger (and meaner) every week since Coach Hill started using his magic on us, and now we are supplementing all this with other great players. Can’t wait to meet new obstacles to get better as a player and a leader, on and off the field.”

Enthroners head coach Jaime Hill has high praise for his newest signing: “We as a team are extremely excited to have Zilai return. Continuity is very important to our program, it’s great to have such a talented player who understands the expectations and the methods by whichwe employ. Anytime you can retain the most talented national player and team captain, is always a plus."
